Raisin the Bar: An Intimate Culinary Experience with California Raisins
We had the pleasure of hosting a truly special evening. An intimate three-course dinner created to spotlight the versatility, depth, and unexpected sophistication of California Raisins. Designed exclusively for twenty of Canada’s top chefs and food creators, the event brought together community, conversation, and exceptional food in a warm, elegant setting.
To bring this experience to life, we partnered with Karbs Catering & Private Events and Chef Erica Karbelnik, who crafted a thoughtful, raisin-forward menu that pushed creativity while honouring classic flavour profiles. The result? A dinner that showcased California Raisins in ways that surprised even the most seasoned palates.
Signature Cocktail: Raisin Old Fashioned
Guests were welcomed with a beautifully balanced cocktail. A riff on a classic Old Fashioned infused with raisin notes that added subtle sweetness and depth.
First Course: Seared Scallop with Ras al Hanout & California Raisin Purée
This dish struck the perfect balance of spice, sweetness, and texture, setting the tone for the evening.
Second Course: Seared Duck Breast & Duck Leg Pastilla
For the main course, Chef Erica spotlighted the raisin’s ability to complement rich, savoury flavours.It was indulgent, aromatic, and deeply flavourful. An undeniable crowd favourite.
Third Course: Cinnamon California Raisin Babka
To finish, guests enjoyed a warm, comforting dessert. It was a beautiful finale blending Middle Eastern influence with homestyle baking.
This evening was more than a curated menu; it was a celebration of culinary imagination. We loved seeing chefs and creators experience California Raisins in new ways, sparking ideas for future recipes, content, partnerships, and storytelling.
