What started as a way for Chef Randy to satisfy his wife, Katherine’s culinary desires and cravings has transformed into the social media sensation and lifestyle brand, Katherine Wants.
Taking TikTok and Instagram by storm with over 900K followers, this entertaining video blog features elevated but easy-to-execute recipes, their everyday favourites, life updates, new renovations and soon even travel adventures that’ll give you instant fomo.
Now the couple has released their debut and bestselling cookbook, Katherine Wants, Randy Cooks: The Ultimate Date Night Cookbook.
Let’s just say, whatever Katherine wants, Randy makes it happen! Talk about couple goals!
So we sat down with the dynamic duo to learn more about how they come up with recipes, what they love about working together and what we can expect to see from them this year.
How did you get started in content creation?
During COVID, we were at home every day cooking together, and people were asking us for recipes, so we started posting them online, and they loved them. So we decided to turn it into Katherine Wants, and you know the rest.
How do you come up with inspiration for your content and/or recipes?
Honestly, usually it's anything that Katherine sends me and is craving. Or it’s inspired by a restaurant that we went to and want to recreate it at home.
How do you shoot and edit your videos?
It really depends on the day. When we started, Katherine was always with me shooting, but now she has her hands full with Romee. It’s usually set up and done, but we’re consistently not consistent.
What’s the best thing about working with your partner every day?
It’s a blessing that we get to work at home together. We get to have coffee every morning, lunch every day, and Randy makes me the most incredible dishes that we capture for our socials.
What’s the most challenging thing about working with your partner every day?
That would be working with your partner every day because sometimes things can go sidewise and I always have to follow Randy around and clean up after him.
What would be your dream collaboration for Katherine Wants (brand or person)?
Honestly, if we could, it would definitely be Anthony Bourdain. He was just absolutely incredible, and I wish we had the chance to meet him.
If you two could go on a double date with any other couple, who would it be?
Oh that is an easy one. It would have to be Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco. If they are free and interested, let us know. We’re ready.
What’s one dish that you refuse to make, Katherine and one dish Katherine refuses to eat?
We’re both not very picky, but if we had to choose one thing that Katherine wouldn’t want, it would have to be the puff mushroom. We tried it, and she was not a fan at all.
What’s one ingredient or piece of equipment we will always find in your kitchen?
One ingredient Randy cannot live without is Terra Delyssa Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Also kosher salt is a close second. It’s literally all over our kitchen all the time.
As for equipment, a mandolin. Couldn’t live without that bad boy.
What can we expect from Katherine Wants in 2025?
We really want to focus heavily on travel collaborations so that we can experience more cuisines worldwide.
